Compared with the original version, the face carries noticeably more shading — beard, brow and hairline are stitched in separate tonal passes rather than a single flat fill, so it reads best from 6 inches upward. The curved shape behind him is outlined in off-white, which lifts the whole motif off dark garments where the first version tends to sink in.
